A stunner! This is a pretty 1940s gown with a beautiful silver lace and net exterior that is set over an inner silk satin. This pay on the two fabrics mixed with the black netting give it a gorgeous muted silver, almost pewter feel. The Bodice is cut simply with a square neckline and high lace cap sleeves. The waist gently nips in and then the skirt flows to the floor in a swath of silver lace and net. The waist has a pretty detailing it to highlight and the skirt's hem is anchored with horsehair ribbon to help keep the suggestion of fullness. Excellent condition.
The inner dress acts as the lining and it is made of a silver rayon satin. It closes with a side painted metal zipper on the interior dress and snaps over that on the exterior lace overlay. I found one break in the lace near the zipper and had a stitch or tow put there it re-secure it. A slight stress to the inner fabric near the zipper that is stable. The hem is finished in a horsehair ribbon The gown appears not to have been worn and the tiny issues mentioned are probably from having been tried on by someone too big for it in its past.
